European Network Meeting in Zurich: “Across Borders!“

This year’s gathering is held under the motto: Across Borders! Together, we want to explore the following questions: How can we create spaces in which global entanglements become visible—while local action remains possible? What do we need in order to remain capable of taking action beyond geographical, institutional, as well as personal and positional boundaries? We do not want to start from scratch, but rather build on what already exists: The network meeting is intentionally designed to be open and dialogical, offering space for resonance, exchange, and collective reflection.

On Thursday, we will reflect together on the intentions behind creating spaces for exchange as hosts, and the attitudes with which we enter these spaces as participants. What conditions are needed to foster plural, multi-perspective spaces of resonance—spaces that challenge us without overwhelming us?

We will also ask when protected spaces are necessary to foster safety and trust, and when brave spaces are called for – spaces that encourage us to question boundaries and open ourselves to new perspectives. Finally, we will explore our understandings of identity: when can thinking in terms of identity be productive and connective – and when does it lead to separation?

On Friday, we invite you to collectively explore what it takes to remain capable of acting and in solidarity across geographic, institutional, and disciplinary borders. We will look at projects from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria that have sustained and inspired us, while also examining their different socio-political contexts.

Together, we will discuss how, in the face of current challenges, we can experiment with new forms of thinking, acting, and being together.
How can we already begin to practice tomorrow – in our structures, in our work, and in our shared creation – today?
