Berlin-based Dutch artist Renee van Bavel explores the themes of peace, freedom, democracy, and human connection through multidisciplinary, immersive art. Her acclaimed work THE MIRROR OF PEACE invites viewers to see themselves reflected while reading: “This is what people living in peace look like.” From the Venice Biennale in 2022, to Ljubljana and the Draiflessen Collection in 2025, the artwork is currently presented at the Haupthof in the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. From 2022–2024, van Bavel was Artist in Residence at the Memorial Sites Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück, developing new approaches to remembrance and collective memory.
