Born in Vila Nova de Gaia and now based in Lisbon, Portugal, André Castro Soares has built a career at the intersection of journalism, anthropology, and education. He graduated in Communication Sciences from the University of Minho and has worked as a cultural journalist in Portugal and Angola, focusing on music and dance. Later, he pursued a master’s and a PhD in Anthropology at ISCTE-IUL, researching semba as intangible cultural heritage. He is an integrated member of CRIA (Centro em Rede de Investigação em Antropologia). Alongside his academic accomplishments, he has been involved in media production and cultural initiatives. He currently teaches History, continuing to bridge scholarly work and community engagement.
